You are Invited to be a Part of Capstone Senior Projects!
We invite you to become a part of something very special here at PVHS! We will have a kick-off informational meeting to welcome you to the process on:
Date: September 24, 2012, Monday
Location: PVHS MPR (Multi-Purpose Rm)
Time: 6:00-7:00PM
Please join us and please bring a friend who can also lend a hand in mentoring as we gear-up for the next step in education through project-based learning.
We are inviting you to work with our students in helping them create meaningful, real-life projects. As a mentor, you'll guide them through designing a relevant project and then prepare them to present it to an audience.
You can help link our students to the workplace by providing job shadow opportunities and/or being a career speaker where you can speak to a small group of students about your profession.
We look forward to seeing you on September 24th, Monday in the MPR! (Campus Map)
Please do not hesitate to email or call me if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Charles Park, Ed.D.

Parents and Community Members,
This year, we are making some exciting changes to our Capstone Senior Projects. One of the significant changes is that our seniors will be working in thematic strands, or "academies", to complete their projects. In these strands, Advisory Boards consisting of faculty and industry partners, will guide students in their projects and help connect them to work-based learning opportunities.
We are asking for you to serve on our advisory board to help our students become college and career ready for any one of these strands:
- Arts, Media & Entertainment
- Education, Psychology & Public Service
- Engineering & Environmental Science
- Health Sciences & Medical Technology
- Business, Marketing & Sales
Industry partners that graciously volunteer for this project will be asked to attend one, one-hour, Wednesday morning meeting per month, starting at 8:00. Partners are also asked to lend their expertise to the group in order to better guide our students towards a relevant and manageable project. You will also have the opportunity to speak to our students about your career and the projects that you encounter daily in your field. We hope that all partners will be able to attend our Capstone Conference in early May and help judge the best of the best in the following weeks.
The purpose for conducting senior projects in Strand settings is to prepare our students with 21st century skills and this can be achieved through project-based learning which is a foundation for the upcoming Common Core State Standards.
Please submit this form and we will be in touch with you regarding meeting dates and timeline for the year. We look forward to working with you.
