Letter from the PTSA President

Palos Verdes High School PTSA
April 2010

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat.  I'm all ready, you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!
~Dr. Seuss

This was the spirit of this year’s Capitol Convoy.  We lobbied our state legislators on the PTA-led trip to Sacramento to try to keep budget cuts away from the classroom during this most difficult time in our State.  Our points were well received by our representatives working on behalf of PVPUSD, as well as those serving on the Education Committee, the State Treasurer and others in leadership.  Most impressive were the students who made the trip with us.  They made us proud by studying the issues, being prepared and professional and being willing to ask tough questions, whether within special hearings or on the floor of the State Assembly.

The most recent information on Distracted Driving, fresh off a recent ‘Oprah’ show, will be presented to your teen here at PVHS.  On Tuesday, April 27th, 9:15am, MPR, Mrs. Huber will present the same startling information to parents at the PTSA meeting.  Help save a life, perhaps your own, or that of your teen’s, by learning how to take the ‘NO PHONE ZONE’ pledge and model safe driving for your teen drivers (or soon-to-be drivers.)  The safety of your students is the highest priority of PTSA, and we are excited to present this eye opening program.

PLEASE visit www.pvhigh.com and click on the top right hand button Parents, PTSA to browse the website, read the past issues of The WAVE, and stay up to date.

We at PTSA hope you had a wonderfully Happy Passover, Happy Easter, and Happy Spring!
