PVHS Parents:

We have finalized our participation donation figures. The athletic participation donations are consistent at Palos Verdes High School and Peninsula High School. The non-athletic extra curricular numbers are different at both high schools based on the number of participants, the number of coaches or advisors, and whether they travel by bus. Again, in the area of athletics, these suggested donations will help offset some or all of the following costs: coaching stipends, bus transportation, security, tournament fees, referees/umpires, safety equipment, timers and scorers. With the non-athletic groups the main expense is to compensate the coach or advisor. The cost of paying a teacher who coaches is considerably more than a “walk on” coach. With several groups I will be meeting with advisors to determine if a donation will be necessary to help offset any costs.

These suggested donations will allow Palos Verdes High School to offer the same quality of extra curricular programs without having to cut sports, levels of sports, coaches, advisors, tournaments, and other competitions. The donations will also help us to protect the quality of the academic programs at PVHS and this is our highest priority.
