2011 was one of the Sea Kings' best years in recent memory. Many school records were shattered, the varsity girls tied for second in the tough Bay League and finished fourth in CIF-SS Div. III, and the boys team competed well and sent a number of individuals deep into the post-season. The Sea Kings will be looking for more of the same success in 2012.
Seniors Jonah Diaz and Justin Unno form what is arguably the most powerful 1-2 distance combination in the history of not just Palos Verdes but the entire South Bay, and they lead a very deep distance attack that will support multi-event superstar junior Brendan Weaver and a host of other Sea Kings with potential to score big points in events across the board. As for the girls, those who think the Sea Kings are in for a down year in 2012 with the departures of some key 2011 seniors will likely be surprised to find that the Sea Kings have reloaded and may be even better than last year. National distance force Rebecca Mehra will anchor the distance attack in her senior year and up and coming young stars like Maile Davis, Candace Johnson, Cate Ryant, Megan Wooley, and many others will score points for the Sea Kings in every event. Both the boys and girls teams will be very dangerous dual meet matchups for anyone and look to finish among the top ten teams in CIF-SS Div. III, with numerous individuals realistically expecting to advance to the state meet as well. 2012 will undoubtedly be an exciting and successful year for PVHS Track and Field, and we hope you will join us.
