There will be no sharing for the Palos Verdes girls golf team.

Palos Verdes, which shared the Ocean League championship the last two years, defeated Santa Monica 187-259 at Penmar Golf Course to clinch the league title outright on Tuesday afternoon.

It marks the third consecutive league title for PV (10-0, 9-0), but it had to share with North Torrance last season and Torrance the year before that.

Sophie Bergland led the way with a 1-under-par 33 and Mackenzie Perez had a 34 for PV. Payton Vallee shot a 38 and Haley Lundberg had a 39.

“It feels great, it’s very exciting for the kids,” PV coach Ray Rivera said. “We were supposed to be rebuilding, and we rebuilt by winning the Ocean League outright. The leadership of Bergland and Perez has made all the difference.”

North Torrance 213, Torrance 219>> Yzie Tabirara shot a 1-over-par 38 to lead North (14-3, 7-2) at the Lakewood Country Club. Haley Tygret and Cindy Oh each had a 41 for North. Diana Kim had a 38 for Torrance (8-3, 6-3) and Nina Novilla shot a 39.

Mira Costa 192, Redondo 217>> Megan Kim shot a 2-under-par 34 and Marni Murez and Ashley Kim each shot a 38 to lead Mira Costa (9-0 in league) at Alondra Golf Course. Robynn Lee led Redondo (2-9, 2-7) with a 34.

Palos Verdes High golf team clinches share of third straight Ocean League crown

The Palos Verdes girls golf team overcame a big performance by North Torrance’s Haley Tygret to post a 206-212 victory at the par-35 Palos Verdes Golf Course on Thursday to clinch at least a share of the Ocean League crown.
It marks the third league title in a row for PV.
“Third time’s a charm,” PV coach Ray Rivera said.
Mackenzie Perez shot a 38 and Sophie Bergland and Maddy Carr each shot a 40 for PV (9-0, 8-0).
Carr’s 40 was a career-best and gave PV the boost it needed after Tygret recorded a 33, which included three birdies. Cindy Oh added a 40 for North (15-3, 6-2).
