The priority application period for students intending to enter to a California State University campus as first-time freshmen in Fall 2009 starts Wednesday, October 1.

Prospective students are strongly encouraged to apply as early as October 1 and no later than November 30, 2008, in order to be admitted to their preferred campus.

Challenges brought on by California's current budget shortfall, are forcing the university to reduce increases in student enrollment, and, as a result, an early application will help students to have a better chance of entering the CSU campus of their choice.

At least six of the university's 23 campuses will close freshmen admissions on November 30, 2008 including Fullerton, Long Beach, Pomona, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, and Sonoma.  Additional campuses may also close admissions categories for certain majors or programs beginning on November 30, 2008.
